Deb Treloar Phsyiotherapist

Debra Treloar

Deb, a partner of TPC has been working in the clinic since 1982. She completed the Advanced Diploma in Manual and Manipulative Therapy in 1984 and has taught and lectured throughout Canada. She has a special interest in treating foot and ankle problems as well as treating children and adolescents.

Deb and Bill have three teenage daughters. The family is involved in competitive tennis, squash and soccer and participate in a number of recreational sports. In her spare time, Deb coaches a Vancouver Girls metro soccer team.

Bill graduated in 1979 at the University of British Columbia and has had a total of 24 years of experience treating orthopaedic injuries. He is a physiotherapist for the Men’s Canadian Rugby team since 1987. Bill obtained his Sports Medicine Certificate in 1996. Apart from Physiotherapy Bill has been playing squash since 1981 and still avidly involved competitively. He is also a recreational runner, skier, wake boarder and cabin handyman.

Carol Graduated with a BScPT from Queen’s University in 1979 and first worked at The Sports Physiotherapy Clinic in Winnipeg. She has been at Treloar since 1984, and became a partner in 1989.

Carol completed her Advanced Diploma of Manipulative Physiotherapy in 1984 and has taught extensively throughout Canada in the post graduate program and was a faculty member at UBC for 5 years. She is well known nationally for her expertise in treating neck problems.

Carol was a competitive swimmer, but now, with 2 very active children she is constantly traveling to hockey arenas, soccer pitches, volleyball and basketball courts
 

Kathy Thompson Physiotherapist

Born and raised in Vancouver, Kathy graduated from the University of British Columbia, School of Rehabilitation Medicine in 1974. In 1985 she received her diploma in Advanced Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy. Kathy is currently a T.A. at U.B.C. in the Masters of Physiotherapy program and was an assistant teacher of post-graduate manual therapy courses for ten years. She continues to attend post-graduate courses in orthopaedics, sports medicine and anatomy taught by national and international lecturers. She joined the team at Treloar Physiotherapy Clinic in 1991 and enjoys treating a wide range of patients focusing on an integration of manual therapy with exercise and education. Kathy also does IMS (Intramuscular Stimulation), a dry needling technique for patients with chronic pain and long standing musculoskeletal problems. She stays fit by biking, hiking, skiing and gardening.

Wendy has been practicing physiotherapy since graduating from Queen's University in 1978, and joined the staff at Treloar in 1992. She has extensive post-graduate training in manual and exercise oriented treatment. In 1990 she earned her diploma in Advanced Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy. Wendy has been qualified to practice Acupuncture as applied to Physiotherapy since 2001, and uses it combined with the dry-needling technique of IMS (Intramuscular Stimulation). She enjoys integrating these skills in her treatments. Wendy has been known to kayak in all types of weather throughout the year and is active in both sea kayak touring and surf kayaking. She also loves the deep powder slopes of BC. A serious amateur musician, she plays flute and alto saxophone.
 

 

Carman Wong

Carman is a graduate from UBC and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Physiotherapy (2004). He is completing his final Level 5 of post graduate training in Manual and Manipulative Therapy and has experience in treating neck, shoulder, back, knee, motor vehicle accident related pain. He utilizes and integrates manual therapy, exercise prescription, kinesiology taping, and education into his treatments. Carman is passionate about his sports, which include soccer, volleyball, tennis, golf and hockey. He is fluent in English and has a working knowledge of Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese. 

 

Penny Galpin

Physiotherapist, Specializes in Vestibular Rehabilitation
BScPT, FCAMT

Penny graduated from Queen's University in 1979, with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy. After two years of general practice experience in a hospital setting, Penny has both managed and owned her own physiotherapy clinic. She joined the Treloar Physiotherapy team four years ago.

Penny completed her advanced diploma of manipulative physiotherapy in 1986, and has been an instructor for the orthopaedics division for a number of years. She has an interest in general orthopaedics, sports injuries, and vestibular rehabilitation.

Having been a competitive swimmer and gymnast in the past, Penny continues to enjoy running, the gym and yoga. While trying to keep up with two busy teenagers involved in competitive soccer, basketball and highland dance, she is involved in coaching girls soccer as well as playing in a women's soccer league.
 

Christine Balkwill Physiotherapist

Christine Balkwill

Physiotherapist
BScPT, FCAMT

Christine has been with Treloar since 1994. A Queen’s University graduate, she moved to BC in 1990 and initially practiced in the hospital setting before making the move to private practice. In 1998 she successfully completed the requirements for the Advanced Diploma of Manual and Manipulative Therapy (FCAMT). She is now actively involved in teaching upcoming candidates for this certificate.

Christine believes that physiotherapy is a partnership between client and therapist and enjoys her role as facilitator and educator. Her particular interests is low back and lower limb problems and she has devised a running-specific assessment protocol. A runner herself, she also enjoys yoga, squash, and torturing herself on the golf course.
 

 

Cass Bennett

Kinesiologist, Personal Trainer
B.PE, Ex. Sc.

Cass Bennet graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Physical Education in Exercise Science, and he is a provincially certified personal trainer. Cass’s background spans over 15 years of personal training and fitness consultation. He was also a principal owner of Fitness Focus Health Clubs for 10 years. Cass brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm to his profession. His general training and background in rehab and many sports make him one of the most popular personal trainers in the city. His ability to motivate all ages, with various levels of fitness, to reach their fitness goals is unparalleled.

Cass has been with Treloar Physiotherapy Clinic for 10 years, and is the owner of Bennett Personal Training. He is also an ergonomic consultant for Prevention Works. In his spare time, Cass is busy snowboarding and playing soccer, baseball, golf, tennis and any other sport that involves keeping score. He is married and living in Kits with future plans to keep clients happy and be a better golfer!
 

Curtis Wong

Physiotherapist, Acupuncture
BScPT, FCAMT, CAFCI

Curtis graduated with a Degree in Physiotherapy from the University of British Columbia in 2003 and has been working at Treloar Physiotherapy Clinic ever since. He has successfully completed the Advanced Diploma of Manual and Manipulative Therapy to become a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapy (FCAMT). Curtis is certified to practice Acupuncture and is the Treasurer of the BC Chapter of the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute (AFCI). He is involved in the UBC Physiotherapy Master’s Program as a Teaching Assistant. He also has past experience as a Hockey Team Trainer at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) level. Curtis enjoys staying active by playing hockey, running, and cycling.
 

Jan Paul Snip

JP was born and raised in the Netherlands and graduated from the Hogescool Midden Nederland in 1995. Prior to working as a physiotherapist he taught Physical Education to high school students in the Netherlands. He immigrated to Canada in 1996 and joined the team at Treloar Physiotherapy Clinic.

Before sustaining numerous injuries JP had a passion for extreme sports, martial arts and water sports. He currently applies that passion to extreme diaper changing as well as building lemonade stands and other parenting activities. JP and his wife recently had their third child, which JP refers to as his last child. JP's favourite things about working at Treloar Physio are his fellow colleagues and helping his clients feel better!
 

 

Iveta Janickova

Physiotherapist

Iveta graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1997 with a degree in Physical Therapy. She joined the team at Treloar Physiotherapy Clinic in 2004. For the past twelve years, Iveta has enjoyed treating patients within the Occupational/Active Rehabilitation Programs. She has a particular interest in ergonomics and functional capacity evaluations and has had the opportunity to perform thousands of assessments in a wide range of settings and working on appropriate interventions.

In addition, she gained extensive experience developing injury management programs while working with a variety of employers in industrial sector. She also enjoys working part time in Royal Columbian Hospital treating mainly post-surgical and respiratory patients.

In her spare time, Iveta loves to hike and trail run with her dog as well as travel.

 

 

Dani Langford

Dani completed her Master of  Physiotherapy from Curtin University in Perth Australia, in Spring 2008. Since her return home to BC she has been working as a physiotherapist in private practice. She is interested in sport rehabilitation and injury prevention. Her physiotherapy interests are rooted in her athletic career at SFU representing the women's basketball team.

While in Australia, Dani was introduced to the combination of Pilates and Physiotherapy which go hand in hand with rehabilitation. Dani believes in Pilates as a successful rehabilitation tool. She has her Pilates matt certification and is currently working on completing her reformer certification.

She is excited to be joining the Treloar Team in addition to bring her Pilates training to the clinic and studio at Treloar. She is very keen, continuing her education with the aforementioned Pilates training as well as working on her orthopedic manual therapy levels, sports therapy certification.

In her spare time, Dani works as an assistant coach for SFU women's basketball team, works on her golf game, and enjoys spending time with family and friends. She has been recently inspired through her volunteer work as a physiotherapist for the athletes in Whistler for the 2010 Winter Para-Olympics.
 

Chaco Chiswell: Kinesiologist, Physiologist

Chaco is a Registered Kinesiologist and Certified Exercise Physiologist and Personal Trainer & Sport Conditioning Specialist. He developed the Treloar Falls Prevention Program and is a member of both the Vancouver Coastal Health Seniors Falls & Injury Prevention Community Task Force & the Westside Falls Prevention Network. Chaco also specializes in Western and Eastern conditioning exercises and Qi (pronounced “chee”) development for a comprehensive mind-body program in health, rehabilitation, and fitness.

Chaco can provide the following:

  • Personal Training and Falls Prevention Programs for active rehab & general fitness in Strength & Balance, Cardiovascular & Joint Health, Range of Motion, & Mind-Body Practices (e.g. Tai Chi, Qigong, Meditation)
  • Programs include assessment, exercise prescription, demonstration, supervision, monitoring, & fitness & healthy lifestyle counseling.
  • Programs are suitable for the apparently healthy & special populations with medical conditions, functional limitations and disabilities (e.g. older adults; musculoskeletal, cardio-respiratory, and metabolic conditions)
 

Kate Kennedy-Waiz

Kate completed her in BSc in Physiotherapy in 1990 from Queen's University. She moved west as soon as she graduated, working in a few clinics in the Lower Mainland and Whitehorse before joining Treloar Physiotherapy Clinic in 1993. She has been working in orthopaedics for almost 20 years now, and she has a special interest in manual therapy, knee rehabilitation and women's health, especially post-partum care and bone health. Her approach to treatment focuses on appropriate movement and movement control, patient education and empowerment, and an acknowledgment of each client as a unique individual. Kate completed her Advanced Certification in Manual and Manipulative Therapy (FCAMT) in 1996 and has been teaching manual therapy at UBC and through the Canadian Physiotherapy Association's Orthopaedic Division since then.

An avid cycle commuter, Kate now finds most of her hobbies involve her busy little family - snack time, tricycle rides around the neighbourhood, naps, and playtime.
 

 

Robin Eisler

Physiotherapist
BScPT, FCAMT

Robin graduated with honours from Queen's University at Kingston in 1994 and has been working at Treloar Physiotherapy Clinic ever since. She completed her Advanced Diploma in Manual and Manipulative Therapy in 2000, and she continually adds to her experience through a variety of courses. She has a particular interest in shoulder rehabilitation, and she loves working with patients of all ages.

Robin works part-time, balancing her love of physiotherapy with her utter joy of raising three children, an inquisitive young boy and precocious, identical twin girls.
 

 
 

Julie Chow

Kinesiologist
BScKin

Julie graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. Since graduation, she has been working in active rehabilitation, specifically with WorkSafe BC, ICBC and private 1-on-1 clients. Previously, Julie has worked abroad with a mental health association in London, England as a physical activity advisor. Currently she is an active volunteer for the Coast Mental Health Foundation in Vancouver.

Julie joined the dynamic team at Treloar Physiotherapy Clinic in July, 2007. She spends the majority of her time with the Occupational Rehabilitation 1 (OR1) program and Return to Work Support Services (RTWSS). She specializes with job site assessments, return to work planning and exercise prescription.

Outside of work, Julie’s interests include rugby, snowboarding, yoga and volleyball. Julie still plays rugby with SFU and is her team’s part-time athletic therapist. During the winter months, she also works as a part-time snowboard instructor and evaluator.
 

 


 

April Campbell

Physiotherapist, Acupuncturist
MPT, BKin, CAFCI

April graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2006 with a Masters in Physical Therapy after completing a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology & Physical Education. She has completed numerous post-graduate courses. She is a Certified Level 3 Orthopaedic Manual Therapist and working towards a diploma of Intermediate Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy. April is also certified with the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute to perform medical acupuncture.

She lives in North Vancouver and has embraced all that the North Shore has to offer. She enjoys free ride mountain biking, snow shoeing, hiking, and running.

Office Manager

Molly is originally from Newfoundland, and moved to Vancouver after living in Toronto for a few years. Her interests include yoga and cycling and she hopes to add hiking and snowboarding to the list now that she has the landscape for it! She has many years experience working in customer service and greatly enjoys improving each client's experience at Treloar Physiotherapy Clinic.
 


 

Sarah Johnson

Receptionist

Sarah is a graduate of St. Thomas University and is originally from New Brunswick.  She recently completed her training and became certified as a Personal Trainer!  She brings her wonderful east coast hospitality to the clients at Treloar Physio everyday while working as a full time receptionist.
  


 

Holly Lorman

Receptionist

Holly has been working as a full time receptionist at Treloar Physio since March 2009.  She is originally from Jasper, and has spent time living in both the USA and England.  Her interests include competitive soccer, yoga and spending time with friends!


 

Barbara Otoo

Receptionist

Barbara has been working part time as a receptionist at Treloar Physio since May 2009.  She is pursuing a degree in Communications from SFU. 

Jennifer Lee

Receptionist

Jennifer has been working part time at Treloar Physio since 2007.  She recently graduated form SFU with a degree in Criminology and is currently deciding whether to go back to school or brave it in the world of full time employment!!
