Steve Wong

Physiotherapist, IMS, Acupuncture, Sports Conditioning
BHK, BScPT, Dip.Manip.PT, FCAMT, CAFCI, CGIMS, TSCC-2

Steve completed his Bachelor of Human Kinetics at UBC in 1998, followed by his post-graduate physiotherapy degree at the University of Toronto in 2001. Prior to returning to Vancouver in 2007, he worked in a busy multi-disciplinary sport medicine clinic in Toronto, Ontario. In 2005, Steve successfully completed the Canadian Physiotherapy Association's post-graduate Advanced Diploma in Manual & Manipulative Physiotherapy while becoming a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapists. Steve is also certified in Acupuncture, Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS), and is a Level 2 TWIST Sport Conditioning Coach.

Steve's treatment philosophy includes using a combination of manual and dry-needling techniques to restore normal joint and tissue mobility and then applying specific & focused exercise techniques to restore function and minimize injury reoccurrence.

Steve's area of interest includes treating complex shoulder problems and spinal instabilities. He has had success treating a wide variety of clients including national level athletes, gymnasts, trampolinists, musicians & 'weekend warriors'.

In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, basketball, ultimate, snowboarding and researching his next flight of travel plans.

   

Sharon Spinder

Physiotherapist, Acupuncture
BHScPT, BPE, Dip.Manip.PT, FCAMT, CAFCI

Sharon Spinder studied Physical Therapy at McMaster University and has worked in sports and orthopaedic private practice since 1997. She has experience treating a variety of patients with spinal and peripheral injuries related to athletics, work, repetitive strain, and motor vehicle accidents. Sharon has earned her Diploma in Advanced Manual and Manipulative Therapy from the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and is certified by the Canadian Acupuncture Foundation of Canada.

When she’s not helping others get back to their activities and hobbies, Sharon stays busy pursuing her own: sharing good food with friends, seeing live music and theater, trail running, snow boarding, mountain biking and road riding, to name a few. She has run two marathons, trained for a half ironman and looks forward to taking on the Olympic distance triathlons and organized road rides this summer.

Sharon combines her personal experience with sports and activities to create a treatment approach which is grounded in manual therapy, exercise and education aimed at enabling clients to return to their desired activities and hobbies quickly.

 

 

 

Tamarah Calyniuk

Physiotherapist, Acupuncturist
MPT, CAFCI

Tamarah completed her Masters in Physiotherapy at Curtin University in Perth, Australia Spring 2007 and has been working as a private practice physiotherapist in Vancouver, BC since. She has a keen interest in sport, sport related injuries, neurological rehabilitation and women’s health issues (pre/post natal).

While in Australia she worked with the Australian Rules National Football Team and the Perth Glory National Soccer Team. Her masters thesis paper focused on the practice of ‘core’ stability programs ‘pre-season and in-season’ in the rehabilitation of osteitis pubis/groin injuries. Prior to becoming a physiotherapist Tamarah obtained a BAH double major from Queens University in Psychology/Health Sciences/Kinesiology and worked privately for two years teaching yoga, pilates and as a strength and conditioning specialist (kinesiologist), with a primary focus on active rehabilitation, pre/post-natal conditioning and athletes (professional and recreational alike). Although primarily interested in sport injury and women’s health, Tamarah continues to treat a wide range of orthopedic injuries related to motor vehicle and work place accidents and non specific back/neck pain.Her recent certifications are in Vestibular Rehabilitation, which allows her to treat balance and dizziness disorders, and Acupuncture (AFCI). Tamarah is currently working on obtaining her orthopedic levels (masters in manual/manipulative therapy).

Outside of physiotherapy Tamarah competes in yeti (snowshoe) racing, adventure racing and ½ marathons. She plays competitive women’s ice hockey, softball (orthodox) and beach volleyball. She also enjoys recreational hiking, climbing, snowboarding, golfing and soccer.

 

Dacia Caney

Physiotherapist
BScPT, Dip.Manip.PT, FCAMT

Dacia graduated from the University of Alberta in 2004 and received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. Her academic and clinical achievements were recognized as she was awarded the Dean’s Medal for Rehabilitation Sciences. She received her certificate of Intermediate Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy in 2007 and her diploma of Advanced Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy in 2008. Since graduation, Dacia has worked for the West Coast Sports Physiotherapy Clinic in Richmond and LifeMark Physiotherapy in Surrey. In April, 2007, she joined the dynamic team at Treloar Physiotherapy Clinic and moved full time to the Kerrisdale location in June, 2009.

Dacia enjoys treating all types of patients, and believes that each patient needs an individualized treatment approach which focuses on a combination of education, manual therapy and exercise. She has a special interest in core stability and functional retraining. For recreation, Dacia enjoys swimming, biking, running and badminton. She is also a talented pianist and enjoys engaging in community development projects.
 

 

Raman Dhaliwal

Office Manager

Raman graduated with her Bachelors degree in Life Sciences from UBC this past year and is looking forward to a future career as a healthcare professional. With her bubbly and charismatic personality, she loves meeting and interacting with the patients here at Treloar Physiotherapy Kerrisdale. In her spare time she enjoys dancing, going to the gym, and spending time with family and friends.
 

 

 

 

Andrea Yeung

Receptionist

Andrea is currently in her first year at UBC's Sauder School of Business. She hopes that her diligence and enthusiasm will further add to the warm and energetic Treloar Kerrisdale team. Outside of work, Andrea has a diverse range of interests including volunteering, singing, acting, playing ultimate, and texting.
 

 

 

 

 

 

Lisa Hartley

Receptionist

Lisa is currently wait-listed for the Bachelors of Science in Nursing program at Langara college and will be attending next January. She is excited to work amongst the physiotherapists and gain insight through their experiences in the health care industry. Her interests include playing tennis, watching the food network, scrap booking and talking! Lisa looks forward to getting to know the patients & adding to the welcoming environment that is Treloar Physiotherapy Clinic Kerrisdale.

 

 

Kristen McBain

Receptionist

Kristen is in her third year of her Bachelor of Arts Degree at UBC. Upon graduation, she hopes to obtain a Master's Degree in Journalism, also at UBC. Outside of work, Kristen loves going to the gym, doing pilates, cooking, and going to a Canucks game whenever she can!
