Kelly Spec
Head Dietitian

As a self-proclaimed ‘foodie’, Kelly has made a career out of her love and passion for food. Before founding Spectrum Nutrition in 2009, Kelly graduated with Honors from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor’s degree in Science, majoring in Dietetics in 2008. Kelly is a Registered Dietitian and a member in good standing with the College of Dietitians of BC and Dietitians of Canada.
Kelly’s personal philosophy surrounding food translate into the guiding principles on which Spectrum Nutrition’s vision was built: “The guidelines to health are well documented in the literature; all our dietitians at Spectrum Nutrition follow these guidelines and a strict evidence based model of care, but how that looks in terms of an individual’s diet and food culture is quite different for everyone. It’s our job to find ways for clients to lose weight while following the guidelines to health, and in a manner that fits with their lifestyle and personal food culture” – Kelly Spec, Registered Dietitian and founder at Spectrum Nutrition.
Kelly has been quoted saying “if you don’t cook when you meet me, you’re not going to start just by walking through my door…and you don’t have to in order to be healthy”. Many clients find it comforting that healthy weight loss doesn’t have to, and actually shouldn’t, mean changing everything you are just to follow a diet – the 'diet' has to fit you, not the other way around. Spectrum Nutrition’s weight loss programs are built on this principle making losing weight easy and painless for clients.
