Clinical Pilates

Instructor: Dani Langford

All Levels

Treloar Physiotherapy Clinic is excited to introduce one-on-one, Clinical Pilates sessions at The Studio at Treloar. Pilates focuses on principles such as breathing, core stability, alignment, co-ordination and the integration of mind and body. By using ‘spring resistance’, the Reformer forces your muscles to work in two ways – releasing and contracting. You’ll stretch longer and deeper than ever before and create stable joints that are more balanced and resistant to injury. It is the perfect adjunct to physiotherapy, helping our patients on the road to recovery. The Studio at Treloar offers mat, standing mat and reformer Pilates taught by Physiotherapist, Dani Langford.

Dani is a Registered Physiotherapist who completed her masters in Perth, Australia and she is the newest member of our team at Treloar Physiotherapy Clinic. “After completing my Masters in Physiotherapy in Australia I was exposed to the combination of Pilates and Physiotherapy in rehabilitation. Pilates is one of the fastest growing forms of exercise in the world and is already very successfully used for rehabilitation in Australia and Europe. To ensure quality instruction, proper alignment, and muscle reprogramming, one-on-one teaching is being offered in 30 minute or 1 hour sessions.

For rates please visit our schedule/rates page.   To book your personal Pilates session please call 604-875-6207.

* Clinical Pilates is taught by a physiotherapist and is covered by some extended medical plans.  Call your benefit provider to inquire if this service is covered for you.

Yoga Therapy

Yoga Therapy (also known as Yoga Cikitsa) is being promoted as the wave of the future by many healthcare professionals. Yoga promotes mental and physical health in ways that modern science is just beginning to understand. Although it has been applied with therapeutic intention for thousands of years, Yoga Therapy is only just now emerging as a discipline in itself, brought about by the tremendous popularity of yoga and created by the marriage of traditional yoga with modern medicine.

By tailoring yoga practices to individual needs, whilst taking medical considerations into account, yoga therapy has been shown to be more effective than general yoga practice as a safe means of treating medical conditions. Today’s Yoga Therapist undergoes thousands of hours of training. This training allows the therapist to directly target specific mental and physical health issues and create a comprehensive and individualized course of therapy.

The cornerstone of yoga therapy is that it deals with the person as a whole and treats the underlying cause of the symptoms, rather than addressing the symptoms alone. With this in mind, Yoga Therapy recognizes the interconnection of mind, body emotions and spirit.

Yoga Therapy can be practiced in conjunction with any medical treatments you are already receiving, or in tandem with other complementary therapies. No prior experience of yoga is necessary before starting.

Yoga therapy is applicable to a great variety of conditions both chronic and acute including:
• stress
• back pain
• arthritis
• hypertension
• heart conditions
• asthma
• irritable bowel syndrome
• diabetes
• multiple sclerosis
• chronic fatigue syndrome
• fibromyalgia
