Yin yoga is a meditative style of yoga which works with the deeper tissues of the body: the joints, ligaments and fascia. These tissues are rarely accessed in more active styles of practice as poses are held for a shorter period of time and focus primarily on the muscles. Poses are held for longer periods (usually 3-5 minutes) and are more passive in nature, allowing for these deep tisses to safely open and our busy minds to settle. A great compliment to the more active or 'yang' styles of practice and a perfect way to balance an active lifestyle.
