It is Sylvia’s great joy to share the wisdom of yoga. Learning and practicing yoga over the years has supported and enriched her experience of riding the waves of life.
Her own path began when her interest in Eastern philosophy
and spirituality lead her to Yoga. Her first class revealed a place deep inside that affected the course of her life. In 2003 Sylvia received teacher certification at Kripalu Yoga Center in Massachusetts. Eventually her dream of traveling and studying in India came true and she studied in the Krishnamacharya tradition of yoga therapy in Chennai. Her belief in yoga as a holistic health practice lead her to become certified in yoga therapy with Leila Stuart at the Centerpoint School of Yoga Therapy. She incorporates some experiential anatomy in her classes which helps to increase awareness and to re-pattern unhelpful habits to more beneficial ones.
Sylvia’s ‘Joy of Gentle Yoga’ classes include hatha, restorative and chair yoga. She has taught at Sourcepoint, Little Mountain Yoga studio and The Path in Vancouver as well as private sessions and corporate classes. She has presented workshops such as the “Tools of Yoga’, the ‘Neck workshop’ and the ‘Breathing Break’. Her classes are relaxed and comfortable and individual needs are addressed. Yoga is presented as a deeply healing modality, strengthening and balancing all the systems of our humanness, both physical and subtle.
She is delighted to be with Treloar where yoga can be integrated as complementary to physiotherapy, and teachers and therapists can collaborate.
