Meet The Team | Melina Mirzaei

We are pleased to introduce you to one of our newest team members, Melina Mirzaei! 

Melina completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia in 2012. Prior to becoming a Physiotherapist, she worked as Kinesiologist in a private practice clinic, where she was introduced to Pilates. She completed her training through Balanced Body shortly thereafter. With the goal of furthering her knowledge of the human body and movement, Melina returned to UBC to complete her Master's of Physical Therapy in 2015.

Since graduating, she has split her time between public and private practice. She also spent the last 2 seasons working with the Vancouver Rowing Club Men's Rugby team. Melina has completed training in Functional Dry Needling, which she finds complements the active treatment that clients receive through Pilates. Melina's variety of experiences allows her to work with most any type of client, from elderly clients looking to maintain their strength and balance, to high-level athletes looking to return to competition. Melina's priority is always to help her clien

ts return to their highest level of functioning, whatever their goals may be.


Melina believes that Pilates primarily helps clients to improve their body awareness, strength and flexibility, all while using principles they can apply to activities in their daily life. She uses acombination of Pilates principles, traditional exercises, manual therapy and dry needling to provide a holistic treatment to her clients. 


What is your favourite part of the job?
I love to see people and all of my clients realize their potential and achieve their goals!

What is your favourite thing to do out of the office?
Taking a hike on the weekends and try new restaurants with my friends. 

What is your favourite way to break a sweat? 
Hitting up a local barre class, hiking and snowshoeing! 


What is your next travel destination?
I'll be heading to Central America

"Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live in"

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?
Acai Bowls!
