What is your background & training?
I am a registered Kinesiologist with an educational background in speech and language pathology (SLP). I started my undergraduate career at the University of Santo Thomas (UST) for (SLP) to later on transfer to The University of British Columbia (UBC) to finish my degree in Kinesiology with Co-op placement. I also have a background in competitive swimming. My career path has lead me to work with individuals with special needs, and to work clinics as a registered Kinesiologist. On my free time, I volunteer for the BCMOS and SRABC.
What inspired you to choose this career path?
My grandmother played a big part in raising me. She is a firm believer that being physically active is the key to a balanced life. This was ingrained in me through the “I can do it” mantra (picture Thomas the train), which she would make me repeat before school and training every morning. Kinesiology came naturally to make this principle useful for others too.
Why do you choose to work at Treloar?
Treloar is one of the best physiotherapy clinics in BC, if not the best. I chose to work at Treloar because I wanted to be surrounded by and learn from the leaders who are driven to stay current and provide the best health care. The partners encourage learning, creativity, and support our development to the best of their abilities. The team is kind, fun, and driven. It is a place where I grew and continue to grow.
What are you personally passionate about?
I am passionate about working with people with special needs and rehabilitating injuries. I like to build relationships and find what works best for the individual, the challenge to be creative, and making the world more accessible for everyone. I also love the tropical waters, home grown Asian cooking, and coffee… Lots of coffee.
