Diane Rizzardo
Physiotherapist, Clinical Pilates Instructor
MPT, BHK, IMS/FDN, Sport Physiotherapy Canada Certificate Candidate, STOTT Pilates Rehab training
What is your background & training?
I’m a former varsity & semi-pro soccer player and avid marathoner/ ultramarathoner…so I’ve had my share of injuries that physiotherapy has helped me overcome! I have a Bachelor of Kinesiology and Masters of Physical Therapy both from UBC. I’ve done additional course work in STOTT Rehab Pilates, sports physiotherapy courses, aquatic rehab, pre/post partum exercise, pain behaviour and management and I’m certified in FDN/IMS. If I had to choose one body part I’m particularly interested in treating I have a special interest in hips.
What inspired you to choose this career path?
I’ve been around physiotherapy my entire life and I was inspired by seeing firsthand how physiotherapists can positively impact their patients’ athletic endeavours, reach their goals and improve their overall happiness and quality of life. I love that in this profession we get to work with everyone from infants to older adults and every age and ability in-between. We focus on people’s abilities and help them realize their potential.
Why do you choose to work at Treloar?
Working at Treloar lets me work with a wide variety of clients who are motivated to make lifestyle changes to overcome injuries and pain to live their most fulfilling life. I get to spend lots of one on one time working with clients in the Pilates studio to manage both chronic and acute injuries.
What are you personally passionate about?
I’m passionate about working with people who are motivated to improve their function whether they are preparing to be a new mom, run their first (or 50th running race), improve their posture playing the flute, or recovering from another setback limiting them from doing what they are passionate about. Out of the clinic, I love getting out and exploring the trails throughout BC with my rescue pup Kaia, getting out on the soccer field, and traveling to adventure races worldwide.
