Concussion Clinic Vancouver

A concussion is an injury to the brain that can happen with or without a blow to the head. Most concussions resolve within 1-4 weeks, although some people can experience persistent symptoms after this amount of time. Common symptoms are headache, neck pain, fatigue , dizziness, feeling “in a fog” and sleep disturbances. Physiotherapy can be extremely useful in improving concussion symptoms and allowing the person to resume regular physical activities.

An initial concussion assessment is usually 45-60 minutes and is performed to identify and prioritize symptoms related to a concussion. The physical assessment may include testing of the head, eyes, neck, balance, and/or vestibular system. Treatment is based on assessment findings and will include a combination of education and graded exercise, along with manual therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, oculomotor retraining or acupuncture as required.
