A Letter from Deb…
After practising as a physiotherapist for 45 years, it is time for me to retire from clinical work at the end of this year.
It has been an amazing journey! Bill and I opened Treloar Physiotherapy in 1982 and began the process of running a business which really meant learning how to be flexible, resilient and open to new ideas. It was exciting, stressful, creative and an opportunity to continually grow. We did not have a business plan for growth but concentrated on being the best physios we could be and tried to give each client the best care we could give them. We tried to build a team of people who were dedicated to the clients, to their role within the clinic and who would support each other. We looked for people who worked hard and played hard. It was fun, not always easy, but overall, very special.
I am so grateful to the many people I got to work with and will be forever grateful to the time I got to spend with our partner and good friend, Carol Kennedy. I was mentored by some amazing physios who shared their knowledge and insights, and I am very thankful for the generosity they showed me.
Working with the people who entrusted their care to me and shared their stories gave me the purpose for my career. I cannot tell you how much you enriched my life. You drove me to be a better physio, a better person and taught me to see things from many different perspectives. Thank you for the trust you showed in me.
Treloar Physiotherapy is in good hands. The people leading are good, solid people who believe in the tenants we built the clinics on; lifelong learning and education, care and respect for everyone who walks through the door, support and mentoring for our colleagues and giving back to the community around us. You will be well cared for by the admin staff, physiotherapists, kinesiologists, massage therapists, and Chinese medicine specialists that work in each clinic.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Bill and I and Treloar Physiotherapy through the years. We are very grateful to all of you.
It is the end of a long chapter but the start of a new one. Let’s see what it will bring.
