Jonathan Poon

Physiotherapist, Clinical Pilates Instructor

Treloar Physiotherapy Clinic: Jonathan Poon

BSc(Kin), MPthy, ISM

What inspired to choose this career path?

I started in Kinesiology and movement based training. That led to my diving deeper into Physiotherapy to learn more about the injury side of exercise. For me, Clinical Pilates was a perfect bridge between the two worlds. In the end, it is all about learning and knowing how to move better!

What is your background & training?

I completed my Masters in Physiotherapy at the University of Queensland in 2010 and had been working as a physiotherapist in Brisbane, Australia, until moving back to Vancouver in November 2016.  Prior to that, I worked as a Registered Kinesiologist following my completion of my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Certificates in Health and Fitness and Applied Human Nutrition from Simon Fraser University in 2006.

I have extensive training in Clinical Pilates and am a certified Pilates Instructor through Polestar Pilates. I am also certified in Musculoskeletal Acupuncture and Dry Needling through Combined Health and have completed my ISM training with Diane Lee.  I work with patients of all ages and abilities, which includes professional athletes and dancers.

Why do you choose to work at Treloar?

When I first began working at Treloar, it was their commitment to offering Clinical Pilates that most interested me. Because I have an extensive background in that area, I was interested in being on a team that realized the incredible benefits that Clinical Pilates can offer.

What are you personally passionate about?

I am mostly passionate about spending quality time with my friends and family. I also love to do yoga and lots of outdoor sports.
