Kate Kennedy

Physiotherapist, Cancer Rehabilitation

BSc PT, FCAMPT

What is your background & training?

I have been working as a Physiotherapist in private practice in Vancouver since graduating from Queen’s University in 1990.  I qualified as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manual and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists in 1996.  My post-graduate training has been primarily in manual therapy, pain physiology, exercise prescription and cancer rehabilitation.  I also teach at UBC and with  the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.

What inspired you to choose this career path?

I chose this career initially because of a fascination with the incredible scope of things a human body can accomplish.  I now know that we are more than our bodies, and though it originally felt like I was facilitating the most amazing mechanical system, I continue to be amazed by the multiple influences on our physical abilities.

Why do you choose to work at Treloar?

I worked at Treloar from 1994-2012 and loved the collaborative community of driven, passionate and nerdy (but also fun) physiotherapists.  I am really excited to return to this amazing environment as part of a true team.

What are you personally passionate about?

I am passionate about providing the best physiotherapy care I can, now with a focus on individuals at any stage of a cancer diagnosis.  I am passionate about my family, health, my garden, as well as travel, adventure, and our great community.
