Christine Balkwill

Physiotherapist

BScPT, FCAMPT, IMS, Certified Yoga Teacher

What is your background & training?

I graduated from Queens University in my hometown of Kingston, Ontario in 1990. I completed my manual therapy certification in 1998 and now have over twenty years experience in teaching manual therapy skills. I have a special interest in treating people with low back, pelvis and lower limb problems.

After 15 years of practicing yoga I was inspired to complete my yoga teaching certification in 2012. I added IMS dry needling to my clinical toolbox in 2017.

What inspired you to choose this career path?

I was faced with choosing a University program at age 17 and I wanted something “sciencey”, but also working with people. So it was a bit of a lucky guess. After graduating, I explored different clinical settings and found that I really enjoyed and was good at orthopaedics and manual therapy.

Why do you choose to work at Treloar?

After twenty-five years at Treloar, I still feel it is a supportive, progressive and enjoyable place to practice. I can teach my yoga class here, and there are always lots of treats!

What are you personally passionate about?

I am passionate about birds, learning, teaching, feeling good and birds. Yes, I meant to say birds twice!
