Claire Chappel
Physiotherapist, Clinical Pilates Instructor
MPT, BCom.
What is your background & training?
I have a Bachelor of Commerce in Entrepreneurial Management which I completed in Australia, Calgary and Victoria. I helped with the opening of and then went on to manage a climbing gym in Victoria for a number of years before moving to Vancouver and completing my Masters of Physical Therapy at UBC. During that time I completed my AIMS Orthopedic and Manual therapy Level 1 Diploma. After graduating, I completed Calibrate Clinical Pilates course.
What inspired you to choose this career path?
I have always been deeply passionate about connecting with and helping others and additionally, movement has always been a part of my life. Physiotherapy seemed like the perfect way to bridge these two passions. Injuries can have a major impact on a person’s life, but finding the right person to help someone return to the activities they love or improve their level of function can greatly improve a person’s quality of life. Through physiotherapy my hope is to help guide and empower others to live their best life and be able to do the things they love with greater ease.
Why do you choose to work at Treloar?
I was initially drawn to the open and supportive atmosphere at Treloar. After shadowing some clinicians, I discovered that it was not only a lovely environment to work in, but one that encouraged and supported learning. When I started to explore clinical pilates and learned that Treloar also had a clinical pilates studio, I knew it was the right place for me.
What are you personally passionate about?
I am passionate about movement and physical activity in all forms. I love sharing this with others in a meaningful way to help them be able to live an active lifestyle.
When I’m not working you will likely find me bouldering in Squamish, walking my dog at the beach or cooking something tasty!
