Treloar Physiotherapy Clinic: Jonathan Tom-Yew

FCAMPT, CAFCI, MPT, BSc

What is your background & training?

I have a Masters degree in Physiotherapy from the University of British Columbia  (MPT 2011), and a BSc. in Genetics with a minor in Kinesiology (2008). Since completing my Masters degree, I have continued professional development and completed my Advanced Orthopaedic Manual Therapy levels and received my certification of FCAMPT. I have obtained my certificate of Acupuncture from the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada (CAFCI). I have also obtained a certificate in the Integrated systems model (ISM). I have a special interest in helping clients return to sport (both weekend warriors and athletes alike). I enjoy Olympic weight lifting and understand the demands of functional movement under increased load.

What inspired you to choose this career path?

I played competitive soccer throughout my youth and University career. Multiple injuries meant numerous visits to Physiotherapy. The guidance and help I received gave me a feeling of hope and an ability to return to my sport.

Why do you choose to work at Treloar?

Initially, Treloar Physiotherapy’s reputation as industry leaders and clinical educators brought me to work at Treloar. The family feel, continued dedication to personal and professional growth fostered by the staff and management has enriched my working experience since 2012.

What are you personally passionate about?

I am passionate about maximizing functional human movement. Whether it is for the younger athlete, weekend warrior or someone more senior. I get a strong sense of accomplishment when a client is able to return to the activity that brings them joy. Lately, I have been enthralled by the natural beauty of the coastal waters of British Columbia.
