Kate Pendergast

Physiotherapist, Clinical Pilates Instructor

What is your background & training?

I graduated from the University of Newcastle in Australia with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree in 2011. I became a credentialed McKenzie therapist in 2013, and a level 1 DMA Clinical Pilates instructor in 2017. I have a particular interest in treating runners and have done several courses on running biomechanics and injuries. I have lived and worked in cities all over the world including Central Coast (Aus), Sydney (Aus), London (UK) and now Vancouver in Canada!

I became a Les Mills fitness Instructor in 2012 and am qualified in 6 of their programs. I also hold the title of Master Trainer from the Australian Institute of Fitness. I became a personal trainer in 2016 and have enjoyed being able to progress people through a variety of training programs to help them achieve their fitness goals and helping them live their lives pain free.

What inspired you to choose this career path?

I have always loved being active and encourage others around me to do the same. I love to educate people on the mechanics of their bodies to help get them out of pain and back to living their lives happily and injury-free. Physiotherapy was the perfect career choice for me.
For me, Physiotherapy has presented such a wide range of opportunities to work with amazing people and travel all over the world. I have worked in Australia, England and now Canada!

Why do you choose to work at Treloar?

I chose to work at Treloar because I am passionate about Clinical Pilates. Treloar has a beautiful Pilates studio and a fantastic team of Physiotherapists. The opportunities for growth and development in this team are amazing.

What are you personally passionate about?

I am personally passionate about fitness. I have been a Les Mills fitness Instructor for over 10 years and I love being able to share my passion for fitness with people. However, I am particularly passionate about running. I started running when I was 15 years old and never looked back. I have since completed eight marathons, over thirty half marathons, qualified for the Boston Marathon three times, and completed it in person in 2021. I also love trail running which has led me to complete several ultramarathons including the Squamish 50 Mile in 2019—my biggest achievement to date.
I am also passionate about travel. I love to explore and meet new people. I have travelled to over 27 countries and can’t wait to continue to add more countries to my list and experience new cultures!
